Tunisia: the TAP agency's 55th anniversary
On the eve of the fifth anniversary of the Tunisian Revolution, Hamida El Bour, managing director of the TAP agency and former IPSI journalism department director, met with a large number of news agency directors. Flanked by Agence France Presse president Emmanuel Hoog, she kicked off the discussions in the presence of the Algerian, Omani, Palestinian, Lebanese, Emirati, and African agencies (PANA).
Among the topics broached : multifaceted changes (technical platforms, multimedia content, and managerial approaches) and present-day agency journalism. It is these very changes in agency journalism stemming from ICT that Camille Laville discussed by mentioning the position of agencies and the challenges they face from social networks.
The participants were also able to attend an exhibition of photographs documenting the agency's history.
Camille Laville's presentation was also an opportunity to strengthen the existing bonds between IHECS and its Tunisian counterparts in journalism education, especially within the Theophraste Network. In addition, a project between IHECS and IPSI was just accepted at the 6th conference of the Permanent Mixed Commission instituted between the government of the Republic of Tunisia and the governments of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and the Wallonia Region on 17 December 2015. An IHECS delegation will travel to Tunis this 10-13 February to flesh out this agreement.
