Contributing to democratisation, the aim of the IHECS-IPERMIC collaboration
This visit enabled our two guests to train in citizen journalism, to enrich their teachings in Burkina Faso and to contribute to their research.
Mr Balima and Mr Kaboré were able to observe how the Brussels Bondy Blog operates to draw inspiration and create their own citizen media in Burkina Faso. To do this, they presented the local media context to our teachers and together they identified the various partners and potential resources in Ouagadougou. Following this reflection, a range of practical proposals adapted to the situation in Burkina Faso were considered.

In addition, Mr Balima and Mr Kaboré had the opportunity to lay the initial concrete foundations for the co-construction with IHECS of study and distance learning programmes. Synergies are likely to be developed between our ASCEP master programme and the degree in Communication for Development at IPERMIC, the Pan-African Institute of Study and Research on Media, Information and Communication. The institute also aims to launch a training programme in advertising very soon that could lead to a new collaboration with the similar department that already exists at IHECS.
The two institutions are developing these multiple projects thanks to the support of the WBI Standing Joint Committee for the period 2018-2022.
